How do I paint?
- Pick a numbered colour from the palette at the bottom. The squares with that number are highlighted.
- Tap a square to paint it, or drag your finger to paint lots at once. Dragging skips other numbers, so you can sweep freely.
- Pinch to zoom in and out. Use Move (or two fingers) to pan around a big picture.
- When a colour is finished, its swatch gets a tick. Turn on Auto next colour in Settings to jump to the next one automatically.
I painted the wrong colour
A wrong tap leaves a faded wash in that square. Pick the right number and paint over it. Slips only affect your stars: 3 stars for almost no slips, 2 for a few, 1 for finishing.
I can't find the last square
Tap Find 🔍. It zooms straight to the nearest square of your current colour that is still blank. Find is always free.
What are the Bucket and the Bomb?
- 🪣 Bucket: tap a square and it paints the whole connected patch of that number.
- 💣 Bomb: paints every square in a 5×5 patch with the right colours.
- You earn charges by collecting stars: every 6 stars refill one charge of each. Using tools never costs stars. Nothing is ever for sale.
How do albums unlock?
There are 10 albums and 191 pictures. Finish 3 pictures in an album to open the next one. Your own Doodles and Photos albums are always open.
How does the picture of the day work?
- Tap Picture of the day on the home screen. Everyone in the world gets the same picture that day.
- A new one arrives at midnight UTC.
- Finish it on back-to-back days to grow your streak. Miss a day and the next finish starts a new streak. Your best streak is remembered.
- It is picked on your device from the date. Nothing is downloaded and nothing is sent anywhere.
How do I paint my own photo?
Tap Photo on the home screen, choose a size and how many colours, then pick a photo. The app turns it into a paint-by-number on your device and adds it to your Photos album. The photo never leaves your phone. You can remove photo pictures from the album at any time.
What is Free paint?
A blank pixel canvas with a box of colours. Paint anything, use the Eraser to fix mistakes, and tap Save to keep it in your Doodles album.
How do I share a finished picture?
When you finish, tap Image to share the picture or GIF to share a time-lapse of it being painted. Replay plays the time-lapse in the app.
The music or sound is off
Open ⚙️ Settings on the home screen and switch Sound effects and Music on. Vibration has its own switch too.
Does the app collect anything?
No. There are no accounts, no ads and no personal data. See our privacy policy.
